Dr Minghao WANG

Dr Minghao WANG received the Bachelor of Engineering from The Huazhong University of Science and Technology and The University of Birmingham in 2012, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Hong Kong in 2013 and 2017 respectively. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and later a Research Assistant Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2018 to 2023. He is currently an assistant professor with the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, University of Macau. His research interests include

Notice 1: PhD for undergraduate or master students for 2023/2024 academic year (2024/2025學年招收博士研究生，包括直博、普博) is open for application (DDL of 1st batch: October 31, 2023; DDL of 2nd batch: February 28, 2024), check the Degree Program and the Compulsory English Proficiency Requirement. All successful applicants will be funded by the UM Phd Scholarship (20,000MOP/Month) or Assistantship (12,500MOP/Month). Background Requirement:

  1. Undergraduate candidates may graduate from QS top 350 Universities OR have GPA > 3.4/4 or 84/100. Special consideration will be given to candidates who graduated from 985/双一流 or 双一流 subject and candidates with top-tier journal publications.
  2. Postgraduate candidates with sufficient research and publication research experience will considered case by case (Candidates with journal publication experience and R&D experience will be priotized.)

Research area requirement：

  1. Power converter design (hardware): Candidates MUST have hardware design experience (Prototyping/electronic competition/R&D experience), familiar with PCB design, field tests, hardware programming, DSP coding, etc.
  2. Internet of Things application (IoT): Candidates MUST have good coding skills (e.g., Python, C, etc.), data extraction, condition, and analysis ability, AI knowledge (RL or other techniques), and be familiar with state estimation of cyber-physical systems.
  3. Control and operation of microgrids (MG): Candidates MUST have a good knowledge background of power and energy systems. He or she shall be good at mathematics, optimization, and coding with academic simulation tools.

We prioritize the research ability. Potential talents with remarkable RESEARCH track records will be fully funded by the PI as special cases.

  • Research Associate (meet at least one of 3 and 4)
  1. At least a master’s degree
  2. Have experience in hardware circuit design or IoT research experience.
  3. Familiar with battery state estimation, battery/PV converter design and implementation
  4. Familiar with hardware coding, IoT system construction and demonstration.
  • Postdoctoral fellow (meet at least one of 3, 4, and 5)
  1. Possess a doctoral degree
  2. Good ability to complete projects independently
  3. Familiar with power electronics, hardware coding and field test implementation.
  4. Familiar with power systems, optimization and simulation.
  5. Familiar with IoT, AI techniques, and cyber-physical systems.
  6. Excellent writing skills in both Chinese and English. (candidate with proposal drafting and project experience will be prioritized)

Notice 2: Postdoc for Ph. D graduates from well-known universities who have obtained a Ph. D degree (no more than 3 years or expected to obtain Ph. D degree within 3 months). Universities recognized as the top 300 in the world or 985/211/double top universities are preferred.
